Our Lo han guo (powdered Monk Fruit extract), Golden lo han guo (powder Monk Fruit extract) and Lo han honey (liquid Monk Fruit extract) are 100% pure Monk Fruit. No other ingredients have been added.

What’s the difference between Lo han guo (the blue packet) and Golden lo han guo (the orange packet)?

Both regular Lo Han Guo and Golden Lo Han Guo are made from the same fruit (monk fruit), and both are pure extracts. The key difference is how concentrated the sweetness is.

What makes monk fruit sweet?

Monk fruit contains natural compounds called Mogroside V, which are responsible for its sweetness.

  • The more Mogroside V, the sweeter the extract.

The main difference

  • Lo Han Guo extract → about 40% Mogroside V
    Sweeter and more refined
  • Golden Lo Han Guo extract → about 25% Mogroside V
Less sweet, slightly more natural/fruity taste

Other differences

  • Colour:
    • Lo Han Guo → pale/almond white
    • Golden Lo Han Guo → golden/yellow
  • Taste:
    • Higher concentration (40%) → cleaner, more neutral sweetness
    • Lower concentration (25%) → retains more of the fruit’s natural flavour

Why the difference exists

Raw monk fruit only contains a tiny amount of Mogroside V (around 0.5%).
To make extracts:

  • More processing and purification = higher Mogroside V (40%)
  • Less processing = lower Mogroside V (25%)

That’s why:

  • ~80 fruits might be needed for 40% extract
  • ~50 fruits for 25% extract

Simple way to think about it

  • Lo Han Guo (40%) = stronger, purer sweetener
  • Golden Lo Han Guo (25%) = milder sweetness, more natural fruit character
